The last couple weeks have been productive in improving the house on the inside. I’m usually really picky about what I buy and it will take me months to make a decision on what to get, so obviously what is up now has been in the works for quite awhile.
The first and one that I am most proud of thus far of what is on my walls is the wine rack by the kitchen table. I saw it on my Target app and thought it was really cool. I think that modern looking art is fascinating, even though to some people it may just look like shapes someone threw together and is calling it art, it can really accent its surroundings. For a wine rack, this just looks beautiful and everyone who looks at it seems to love it. Check it out along with Katie’s delicious dinner:
The next addition was the entertainment shelves to hold my DVDs and some blu rays soon. I recently inherited a first generation Apple TV so much of my digital content is on there already, but an entertainment center really isn’t complete without some kind of visible movie collection. My collection is nothing to be impressed by but it still helps give my living room character. Besides…who really throws away DVD cases???
Lastly I did some surgery on my MacBook Pro. I got it back in early 2010, so I own a mid-2009 model. Stock it came with Snow Leopard OSX 10.6, 160 GB hard drive and 2 GB of RAM. For that OS that setup worked. When I upgraded to Lion last summer, I noticed things went a little slower for such a powerful operating system. The most noticeable was Safari and Firefox getting the beachball wheel of death anytime it tried to open some pages. I stirred with the idea of upgrading my Mac, looking at updated models its really just better insides from what I have, so thats what I decided to update. I went up to 8 GB of RAM and OMG what a difference! I think since the upgrade the iPad has gotten a bit more rest while I play on the Mac more often haha.
Next on the list is to do a hard drive upgrade from the 160 GB to 500 GB. The Apple TV currently sports a 40 GB hard drive on it, and for the amount of movies I have a digital copy for that eats the whole thing up. My plan is to put the 160 GB into the Apple TV so I have plenty of room for media on there and then I’ll be super happy with my setup. All of this handywork has been accompanied by new found band Pendulum…they are like a hard rock/drum and bass techno group. I went to an Infected Mushroom show when I moved back about 3 years ago and though the hybrid of hard rock and techno was really cool, so Pendulum is like that but faster beat. Really great sounding stuff, can’t wait to go running with those beats. Oh and PS got an iPod Nano watch finally to use. I had it on at the office the other day since we can’t use our phones anymore and if I’m waist deep in emails and not talking to people music is nice to have with headphones.
Tomorrow is Katie’s birthday so happy early birthday and hope you like the gifts and dinner! PEACE!
